#2 Acorn Free Slippers Crochet Pattern

Fall is in the air and the chipmunks are harvesting their harvest from my garden, each acorn neatly stacked and ready to comfort and nurture in the cool months ahead. The seed stitch on these slippers reminds me of these piles of acorns, and you will never lose your slippers if you hang them from their stems (the little I-Cord loop on the cuff).

A quick note on the thread: I like the options. I have been knitting for 25 years and designing (first for myself and then for my knitting students) for the last 15 years. (You can thank my students and my LYS manager for encouraging me to jump in and put my work there.) She is a VERY weird knitter with no stash. So while I designed this pattern in collaboration with my local yarn store, Yarns By Design in Oakmont, PA, to use a special yarn custom-dyed for them by Flower Hill Fleeces, I encourage you to use what you have in your stash: fingering DK or Aran weight. All you have to do is change the number of threads you join and you have a perfect project to get rid of things.

#6 Shortie Free Slippers Crochet Pattern

These socks were designed when I recently needed ankle socks. I had some Bis-sock yarn left over in the Hudson’s Memories colourway that I didn’t want to waste but knew I didn’t have enough left for anything other than ankle socks. The pattern is worked toe up and it would be great to work in pairs as it is a very simple pattern. I used about 42 grams (180 yards) of toe weight sock yarn for these socks, and made the size small. This uses my normal base pattern, which has been technically edited, but I did not test or edit this specific pattern.
